Wheat summary: crop, deliveries, prices in the regions

This year, much more wheat was harvested than in 2018, the Ministry of Economy reports.

According to the department, according to preliminary calculations and data from the regions, in 2019, the wheat crop grew to 28.1 million tons. For comparison, a year earlier this figure was 24.6 million tons. Thus, Ukrainian farmers collected 3.5 million tons (+ 8% ↑) more than in 2018, and 1.9 million tons higher than in 2017.

According to experts, the total weight of crops and leguminous crops in the set weight will be within 74 million tons, which is 4 million tons higher than last year.

It is worth noting that the US Department of Agriculture announced a forecast for wheat production in Ukraine in 2019/2020 MY at the level of 29 million tons.

As of December 2, 2019, our country shipped 24.81 million tons of grain and leguminous products to foreign markets. This is 6.01 million tons higher than the same period last year, according to the Information and Analytical Portal of the Agro-Industrial Complex of Ukraine.

In terms of crops, exports are as follows:
rye exported 5 thousand tons (-62 thousand tons);
3.49 million tons (+470 thousand tons) were sent to barley;
corn – 7.52 million tons (+1.52 million tons);
wheat – 13.47 million tons (up 4.06 million tons compared to the same period);

This year Ukrzaliznytsia increased grain transportation by 23% and can transport up to 4 million tons / month. With the introduction of route transportation on schedule, the company intends to increase the volume of grain transportation to 5 million tons.

In the reporting week, processors almost did not change the purchase prices for food wheat. In the western regions there is a slight increase, prices rose to the level of the middle Ukrainian.

The global wheat market during this period was steadily in an uptrend, wheat quotes grew in Chicago. Reasons: strengthening the global physical market, improving export demand, forecasts of worsening weather conditions in the regions of growing winter wheat in the USA, as well as forecasts of a decrease in the area under wheat in the USA and the EU, and lack of moisture in the Black Sea region.
